I have another sweet and simple craft for your kids to make today.

This toilet paper roll snowman is easy to make, using minimal supplies, he's downright adorable.

The only supplies you need are tp rolls (or a paper towel roll), paint, buttons and a piece of ribbon.

You just paint the cardboard rolls, stack them, glue them, and decorate.

Stand him up on a windowsill, desk or dresser, and enjoy while we ride out these last few weeks of winter.

The weather has FINALLY warmed up here, so I wanted to share a terrific backyard activity that will keep your little ones entertained and learning for ages.

It's super-easy to set up with some dollar store artificial flowers, and a few jars, containers and scoops.

You'll love what we've used for the "potting soil". It makes for such a wonderful sensory experience and it's much more interesting than dirt (although that will do just fine if that's what you'd like to use).

Crystallized Beach Rocks with Borax and Watercolours

Okaaay... This is FABULOUS, guys! And I am SO excited to share it with you.

You know how you can make crystals with borax and hot water? People usually do it with pipe cleaners to make snowflakes and icicles, right?

Well, we used beach rocks. Oh My Goodness. And then, guess what we did! We coloured them, and turned them into these dazzling and vibrant crystallized stones that you can display on a table or use as a paperweight or give as a gift.

You have to see them! They are GORGEOUS! And the process was SUPER-easy, and so fun!

We coloured our salt, but you can leave yours plain if you'd rather. This activity sets up in under a minute, and will provide hours of fun and learning.

Homemade Story Stones

Ok, I have a WONDERFUL little project to share with you today, and if you're a creative teacher or caregiver or parent, you will love it.

I made these story stones for my daycare, using stones collected from the beach, and cut-outs from magazines and fabric swatches.

They were really fun and easy to make, and I can't tell you how much the hooligans LOVE them.

These stones help them to construct a story-line, aid in narrating a story, prompt them to think creatively, help them gain confidence when speaking in a group.

So, not only are they a valuable teaching/learning tool in our daycare, they're also really fun to play with.

When you're at the beach this summer, collect a bucketful of smooth stones so you can make a set of these for your classroom or daycare!
