We made vibrant pumpkin suncatchers out of coffee filters, using a fun colouring process.

You won't believe how intense the colours of our pumpkins are.

They look like they're actually glowing when the afternoon sun shines through them.

The process is really quick and simple, so this is a great craft for your little ones to do this week before Halloween!

We're in the final stretch now, folks! Less than 2 weeks until Christmas! How is that possible? It's hard to get my head around it because here in Canada, we're having down-right balmy weather. I know. It's crazy. We're usually up to our knees in snow by now, but today is like a cool summer day. It's so bizarre!
Regardless of the temperatures outside, we're getting into the spirit inside, and today we've crafted up some coffee filter, jewelled tree ornaments. The process is SO fun. The preschoolers love it, the big kids love it... heck, even I love playing around with this gorgeous art technique!

Ok, I know I can get a little over-excited about some of the stuff we make here in my daycare, but I am just beyond smitten with the ballerina ornaments we made yesterday. Oh. My. Goodness. They are SO adorable! AND, they were so easy! A craft stick and a coffee filter - who knew you could turn them into something so darn cute. I am in LOVE with our latest poppy craft! These poppies are so easy to make, and they look so real! The petals are delicate and crinkly just like real poppy petals. All you need are a few coffee filters, red paint and a couple of buttons. It's a great Remembrance Day craft for toddlers and preschoolers to make, but kids of all ages will enjoy the process. Hope you and your kids love these poppies as much as I do. I'm totally smitten!

Vibrant Coffee Filter Flowers – So Easy and Pretty!

Making coffee filter flowers is one of those activities that never gets old.

Toddlers, preschoolers and even older kids love the process of dyeing the coffee filters, and of course, once they've dried, you can decorate a wreath with your coffee filters or you can do like we're doing today, and attach a few stems to make a vibrant bouquet.

Colouring coffee filters is a wonderful way to explore water absorption and colour blending, and of course the process is terrific for fine motor development and co-ordination.
