When I use button stoppers I just glue them near the top of the popsicle sticks to stop the yarn from slipping off.

I made one for my son to try and used googly eyes instead of buttons. He thought it was funny. I also taped a toothpick to the end of the string as I didn’t have a needle to use. Worked well and thread certainly couldn’t slip out of the needle. Thanks again!
